    Released in June 1995, 'HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I' paired a greatest-hits disc with 15 new songs. It sold over 20 million copies (40 million units counting both discs) and remains the best-selling multi-disc album of all time.

  • Scream cost $7 million to film

    The 1995 'Scream' music video, co-starring Janet Jackson and directed by Mark Romanek, cost roughly $7 million — earning the Guinness World Record for most expensive music video ever produced.

  • They Don't Care About Us was filmed in two versions

    Spike Lee directed two videos for the 1996 single: one in a Brazilian favela in Salvador and Rio, and one inside a prison. The Brazilian shoot helped spark international attention on Rio's Pelourinho district.
